There are several campsites around Amsterdam.

Vliegenbos, Meeuwenlaan 138: 10 minute Bus ride from Central Station and is the nearest to the centre, specialises in accommodating younger campers. Has Cafe and other facilities. Discounts for under 30s.

Zeeburg, Zuider Ijdijk 34a: Harder to get to but more facilites, for example, a Bar.

Open from April to September.

With a mainly youthful patronage, late night noise and parties are the norm at these sites.

Those wanting a quieter more family orientated site are advised to try Amsterdam Bos, Kleine Noorddijk 1, Amstelveen. Quite a way out of Amsterdam. Bus from Central Station and a short walk.

Open April to November.

Gaasper Camping: Loosdrechtdreef 7. About 11k from city centre. Catch the underground "Sneltram" (Subway/Underground) from Central Station to "Gaasperplaas" ( end of the line) About 20 mins ride.

Lemming (ACD) has stayed there and sez the campsite is about 10 mins walk from the station, also that it is very regimented and you are allocated a tent pitch and parking space (if you arrive by car), but that it is absolutely flat and easy to erect any size of tent. Recommends you buy a "Daagkart" a day ticket thats good for trams and buses as well. Nightbus drops you by "Gaasperplaas" station, no buses between 2&4 AM. On site Cafe.

Further Camping Info

Ask at the VVV for more details of other camp sites and more information -I have never camped in Amsterdam so do not know much about it, if you have info, let me know.
