Tiny little place with a huge and deserved international reputation. Hardly room for more than a couple of small tables and chairs, a nice place to stay if you can get a seat. Small menu -but you can bet everything on it is 5*- it is run by 2 (usually very stoned!) Americans who are obviously more interested in the product than the profit. The "Grey Area" is the only place I know where you can get the premier Moroccan Hash "Golden Shoes" - dark brown sticky dynamite -recommended to all of you that have been putting up with average "Rocky" for years. 1g is around €12 - and worth every cent. The only coffeeshop I know that sells eighths and quarter ounces. (3.5 and 7 grams respectively) Note: This shop opens between 12.00 and 22.00. Tues-Sun only.

Getting there From the Dam Monument. Face the Palace across the road ("Hotel Krasnapolsky" behind you) . Cross Damrak and take the street ahead to the right of the open cobbled area -Mozes and Aaron Stratt -to where it intersects with Nieuwezizds Voorburgwal ("Newsides"). You will see the "Magna Plaza" sign across the road on a big building (formerly Amsterdams Main Post Office), cross over to it and turn left and walk up to the intersection with Raadhuistraat -Do not cross the road, keep to the right, and walk down the side of the "Magna Plaza" building and continue over the first bridge, turn right at the first road into Singel - Oude Leliestraat is the 2nd turning on the left.
