The Centrum area is full of good coffeeshops, but there may come a time when you want to escape the hordes of rubberneck tourist groups, the brashness of the "red light" district and the souvenir shops full of overpriced crap for something quieter. Here are 4 of the many Coffeeshops worth making the effort for: Noon: Zieseniskade 22 This is in the busy Leideseplein Area and has 3 major attractions: 1) The shop has a "Try before you Buy" policy - a free bong hit of your possible purchase ! 2) Home of "Blueberry", a popular prize winner for the shop in the 2000 "Cannabis Cup" and again in 2001. 3) Free Internet: e-mail your friends back home and tell them how stoned you are - they will love you for it (maybe) ! Paradox: 1e Bloemdwaarsstraat 2 On a quiet street in the Jordaan area, this shop also serves organic food - including, when I last visited some time ago - a "hempburger ! (not tried !) Bluebird: St. Antoniesbreestrat 71 Situated in the Jodenhoek, the traditional Jewish area of Amsterdam. Spread over 3 floors with a very good menu and very probably the most comfortable seating of any coffeeshop in Amsterdam - check the pics on their site. De Theeboot: Oude Schans 143. Very near the "Bluebird", this is a permanently moored floating coffeeshop on what was once a barge. No website found.
