Welcome to the fastest growing part of this site, next time you visit, just click the on the index/home page to arrive here.

Much of the information here is obviously Cannabis orientated, due to its use as a medicine by many MS sufferers and other disabled, however, there is a lot of information for those not interested in Cannabis or Coffeeshops.

Please remember you can use Coffeeshops for drinks etc and will not be pressurised in any way to buy or consume Cannabis .

If you have any information on non-Cannabis places suitable for Wheelchair users and other disabled people , please let me know .

The problem with access to Amsterdam`s Coffee Shops, and many other buildings, for wheelchair users and other disabled people is due largely to the buildings in which many of them are situated being very old and subject to planning restrictions. Many are in houses built at a time when a house was taxed on its width - hence the many old narrow 4 storey houses in the centre with small entrances and very steep staircases.

The city with its often narrow cobbled streets and humpback canal bridges is not very Wheelchair friendly - I am not disabled, but I have got eyes and have seen people in Wheelchairs having occasional difficulties in getting around.

General Information

N.B If you are on medication, consult a Doctor before smoking Cannabis !

Don`t use Cannabis if you are pregnant !

Hotels: Amsterdam Hotels, like much of the city, seems to have scant regard to the needs of the disabled, full disabled facilities being confined to very few hotels in the 3, 4, or 5 * category.

Please see "Travel Report" pages for more info.

Suggest you book via a travel agent to ensure you get a hotel that meets your specific needs. Many have patron car parking areas.

Dutch Railways run a Disabled Traveller Service from 140+ Stations in the Netherlands.

Also check here and click "Stadsmobile" in "Taxi" menu - this is information on a disabled taxi service. (Note: you may get a full page "pop-up" for Amsterdam-Webcams.com on linking to this address. Just close it) ( I am trying to get more info on this service, so far my e-mails have not been replied to)
